EVR Holdings (EVRH) FOLLOW, a creator of virtual reality entertainment, has launched a closed beta version of its MelodyVR platform for iOS and Android devices which will be made available to consumers this summer. The new beta version also comes with MelodyVR Viewer, a compatible VR device.

Shares are up over 12% to 6.125p following the news.

The company believes the addition of a VR device, previously lacking from its offerings, will bolster the already “substantial user growth” the platform has seen since its launch in May 2018.

This addition will allow consumers to access the full range of the MelodyVR platform in two ways-- either through a full 360 degree video using “unique jump-spot technology,” or via a “VR mode which delivers a fully immersive VR experience to fans when combined with a MelodyVR viewer.”

The MelodyVR viewer, the company argues, is an important supplement as it will allow users to engage in a VR experience that a smartphone alone could not support without having to purchase a costly VR dedicated device.

In consumer testing, around 86% of participants said they found the MelodyVR viewer “comparable or better than Oculus Go.”

In launching these initiatives, EVR Holdings is aiming to widen the reach of their services, “to the wider mass-market of both smartphone and VR user,” as the market for dedicated VR hardware is still in its infancy.
