Sunrise Resources (SRES) FOLLOW provided an update on its CS Pozzolan-Perlite Project in Nevada, USA on Friday.

It submitted Supplemental Environmental Reports to the lead regulator which will be put forward for public comment as a part of the final permit approval process.

The reports analyse the impact of the project on natural resources, of which Sunrise’s environmental consultants considered to be “minor or negligible” in most cases except in respect of the mine area itself, “as would be expected for any mining operation”.

Sunrise said the reports are being combined with the baseline studies and Plan of Operations into the Environmental Assessment, which it said is nearly complete.

The company has received “strong enquiries from a number of potential new perlite customers” after its successful commercial scale perlite expansion tests in August.

Sunrise said it is planning a series of larger commercial scale tests on site to produce crushed and screened horticultural grade raw perlite for supply to these new customers.

It is also considering processing a bulk sample from the already approved NewPerl Project.

Sunrise Executive Chairman Patrick Cheetham said: “Our project has generated further strong interest amongst the attendees of the Perlite Institute Annual Meeting held last week where customer discussions continue to reinforce the opportunity for a new supplier of raw perlite.”

“The latest United States Geological Survey commodity summary shows a growing market for perlite with a 12% annual rise in US consumption in 2018 and a 22% rise over 2015, driven in part by increased use of perlite in the expanding cannabis market in North America."

The company plans to produce perlite and pozzolan using mobile processing equipment to produce a horticultural grade perlite and a finely crushed natural pozzolan for direct feed to customers' grinding facilities.

Sunrise Resources said that the permitting timeline remains on track for completion in the fourth quarter and is working with equipment suppliers, having received cost proposals for the rental of various plant items.
