Westminster Group confirms “significant progress” regarding negotiations in Ghana

Westminster Group (WSG) FOLLOW on Monday confirmed that “significant progress” has been made with discussions between Meridian Port Services and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, potentially leading to a contract for the AIM-listed security firm.

In September, Westminster Group reported that its Scanport Westminster partnership was receiving payments for work on the new Tema Container Port in Ghana whilst awaiting for formal signing of contracts to be completed.

The Scanport Westminster partnership is the sole contractor for the x-ray screening and secondary search operations of containers passing through the port.

Shares in Westminster Group were trading 18% higher at 12.75p during Monday morning trading

Westminster Group on Monday confirmed reports of Ghanian press and noted in a press release a recent rise in its share price which saw shares rise from 8.95p to 10.8p on the Friday before the announcement.

“The Company is pleased to note that the ongoing discussions between Meridian Port Services and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority are reported to have made significant progress and are close to being finalised.” Westminster said.
