Galliford Try (GFRD) confirmed that it expects to report pre-tax profits in line with market expectations for the full-year, which will include £40m of exceptional items relating to the restructuring of its construction business. Linden Homes sales rate was 0.56 per site per week during the year to June, down from 0.59 the prior year at an average sales price of £351,000, from £367,000 reflecting its focus on mid-range homes and reduced exposure to central London. The partnership and regeneration business had a £1bn contracting order book, down on £1.2bn, and mixed-tenure sales carried forward of £184m, from £160m. A potential £950m takeover of major parts of construction company Galliford Try by housebuilder Bovis Homes Group has fallen through. The talks concerned a potential all-shares acquisition by Bovis of Galliford’s Linden Homes and Partnerships & Regeneration divisions, with Galliford remaining an independent UK-listed group focused on construction. The proposal also involved Bovis covering a £100m debt placement by Galliford. Galliford says it rejected the proposal as it did not fully value the operations and was not in the interests of all shareholders. Galliford says it remains confident in the long-term prospects of the group. The companies are now no longer in discussions.
