BrandShield Systems launches new image recognition technology
(BRSD ) said it has launched ‘further groundbreaking technologies’ as part of its subscription solution which are to be deployed in support of its existing and new clients.
The cybersecurity solution provider has been developing image recognition and optical character recognition ("OCR") ‘to further enhance its ability to identify and neutralise actual and potential threats to some of the leading global companies in the world.’
BrandShield's image recognition technology detects images similar to or identical to those copyrighted by the Company's customers. The technology is able to link these images to global networks of fraudulent activity across hundreds of e-commerce marketplaces.
Once an infringement is identified the technology links it to other fraudulent uses on the web, and then processes their collective takedowns at the click of a button. Typically, Image infringement identification involves a manual review of thousands of individual listings - BrandShield said its enhanced technology reduces this manual process ‘exponentially’.
The new OCR capability allows text to be interrogated that lies within images on fraudulent listings on e-commerce marketplaces. The group said this adds a further layer of abuse identification for use against those fraudsters that try to hide brand names and product descriptions within an image of sale items rather than in separate, purely textual fields.
Shares in BrandShield Systems have increased by 25.5% in value in the past month to open 3.17% higher this morning at 32.5p following the announcement.
Fraudsters and counterfeiters behind networks of illegal activity seek to hide their links through the use of multiple seller accounts, differentiated store names and international ISPs and domain hosting providers. However, BrandShield says the ability to target these networks through image recognition ‘is a significant and game-changing development.’
Commenting on the deployment of these further technologies, CEO, Yoav Keren, said:
"We are proud to continue pushing the technological boundaries in the fight against fraudulent activity that harms both our clients and the online consumer.
“We are constantly developing our capabilities in monitoring, detecting and taking down online threats such as fraud, counterfeits, executive impersonation and phishing in order to stay a step ahead of the criminals and protect our clients' digital assets, brands, reputation, employees and customers. “
He added, “It is this technology advantage that has helped us retain significant global clients and we look forward to deploying our capabilities with many more in the future."
