Europa Metals (EUZ) FOLLOW has encountered  a  delay  in completing the last  metallurgical  test work  at its  Toral  project  in Spain  as a result of the impact of the  COVID-19  pandemic.

In early March, Europa  reported  that it had obtained its highest assay results on record since commencing drilling activities at  Toral  in 2017.

Last week, Europa announced that it had completed its first 2020 field season prior to COVID-19’s “significant escalation” across Europe.

However,  due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, a delay has  now  occurred in completing the last metallurgical laboratory test and consequently transferring the data to Wardell Armstrong International in the UK.

Therefore,  second  phase results on material extracted at  Toral  is now  expected  to be completed in early April 2020,  instead of the end of  March 2020.

“The Company has unfortunately encountered a delay to the completion of the last test for deleterious elements required for the finalisation of an updated independent metallurgical report and publication of its findings,” said Laurence Read, Executive Director of Europa Metals.

Following the completion of the  testwork, Europa will obtain a full metallurgical report  encompassing flowsheet optimisation for concentrates alongside a breakdown of deleterious elements.

The group said the Board would revise its plans and budgets regarding metallurgical and flow sheet work accordingly with the aim of conserving capital.

The total overall resource at Toral is now around 18m tonnes at 7.4% zinc equivalent.
