Gfinity (AIM:GFIN) FOLLOW has entered into a five-year agreement with Abu Dhabi Motorsport Management (ADMM) to design, develop and deliver an e-sports racing championship (ERC).

The ERC, which will be jointly owned by Gfinity and ADMM, will combine the two group’s expertise in e-sports and gaming and support the ongoing investment in racing services.

ERC was created by Gfinity and is based on ‘a unique format not seen in virtual racing before’ and will feature professional simulation racing drivers and a roster of digital motorsport teams.

There will be two seasons a year, with the first season taking place in 2020. Gfinity will host the races, with drivers joining remotely from around the world competing behind the wheel.

The group said its proprietary technology, Race Control, will be utilised for in-race adjudication and data feeds to deliver new levels of insight to fans about driver and car performance.

Shares in Gfinity closed at 1.7p on Wednesday afternoon.

“We have created a format that will excite and draw them into the ERC, giving sponsors and advertisers the opportunity to engage with this typically hard to reach audience,” said John Clarke, CEO of Gfinity.

"ADMM has a strategic focus to develop and invest in premium racing ventures and virtual racing is an important pillar in this vision,” said Al Tareq Al Ameri, CEO of ADMM.

He added, “Gfinity is the right partner for this championship with a shared passion and vision and has proven experience of executing world class esports programmes.”
