Intelligent Ultrasound Group (MED) FOLLOW  has announced that one of its BodyWorks Point-of-Care Ultrasound Simulator (“PoCUS”) has been deployed to the emergency simulation centre at the NHS Nightingale Hospital at London's ExCel centre.

As announced on 25 March, the Company released a COVID-19 training module for its BodyWorks ultrasound simulator to help in the fight against COVID-19. The Company has now confirmed one of its BodyWorks training simulators, with training staff, has now been deployed to The Nightingale, and is helping train clinicians to rapidly acquire and practice lung ultrasound skills.

Lung ultrasound has major utility for the management of respiratory-related COVID-19 infection due to its safety, repeatability, absence of radiation, low cost and point of care use. It is also relatively easy to disinfect compared to alternative imaging modalities.

As well as the NHS Nightingale, the company has also remotely upgraded over 30 of its BodyWorks PoCUS training simulators with the new training module in hospitals in the UK, USA, Europe and Asia since the module's launch last week, with very positive feedback from clinicians.

Hannah Conway, an Advanced Critical Care Practitioner at Glenfield Hospital Leicester, said: "We've had our BodyWorks system upgraded today to include the wonderful new COVID-19 lung ultrasound module which will come in incredibly handy when upskilling our Intensive Care Unit teams in lung ultrasound."
