Salt Lake Potash (SO4) FOLLOW announced on Thursday the execution of the Native Title Land Access Agreement (LAA) alongside partner, Tarlka Matuwa Piarku, or TMPAC, covering the whole of the Lake Way Project and surrounding town Wiluna.

TMPAC, an aboriginal corporation, have formally entered into the LAA with SO4 on behalf of the Wiluna people, the recognised Native Title Holders of the land covering the project area.

The LAA, negotiated in collaboration between both parties, will secure the continued development of the Lake Way Project and is considered a “key milestone” in this way.

Significantly, it will provide economic, social and environmental benefits to both TMPAC and the broader community such as community support programs and royalty payments.

There will also be opportunities for the local Wiluna people to be involved directly will the project through direct employment, training, and business opportunities.

To respect the heritage of the area, the LAA grants any necessary statutory Aboriginal heritage consents for project operations and exclusion zones protecting areas of particular cultural sensitivity.

At the same time, the agreement brings the certainty required to continue development, providing tenure and native title approval security to SO4 for the duration of the Project.

“We understand the significance of the area's heritage and this is reflected in the agreement ensuring the Lake Way Project is able to proceed whilst respecting the heritage and culture of the area,” commented Tony Swiericzuk, SO4’s Chief Executive.

Today’s announcement marks the culmination of 18 months of progress for SO4 in its commitment to the Lake Way project, following the group’s long-term engagement with TMPAC and the Wiluna community.
