Ora Technology’s digital carbon trading platform provides investors with the chance to tap into the voluntary carbon credit market, by allow retail investors to buy and sell carbon credits. The voluntary carbon market is an instrument used by both the public and private sectors to work towards carbon neutral and net zero climate goals.

Carbon credits are essentially permits that allow the owner to emit a certain amount of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases. One carbon credit is equal to one ton of carbon dioxide that's either been prevented from going into the atmosphere or has been removed from it and put back in the ground. The carbon credit market is growing at a rapid rate, with 45% of the world’s largest companies already using them to achieve carbon-neutral targets.

Ora's 'Ora Carbon' platform aims to improve access to carbon assets - and the broader carbon economy - with the goal of reducing the complexity of current industry practices.

Retail investors are doubly incentivised to use Ora’s platform. By purchasing credits, investors can directly support sustainability projects like carbon capture. On top of this, the voluntary carbon market is expected to expand significantly in the coming years as governments and companies strive to reduce emissions. This escalating demand, coupled with limited supply, may lead to a surge in credit prices over time. Ultimately, carbon credits offer a way to invest with environmental impact while potentially yielding financial returns.
